Online Community of Zenith Builders and Flyers
Hi guys,
I am a 750 builder and am almost done with my project. Just need to attach doors and windows, and the finished wings and tail over the next 60 days.
Anyway, in the course of building my plane, I got really irritated (literally) with the current cleco plier that we use on a daily basis. After tinkering around with a couple of cardboard and plastic prototypes, I patented a new cleco plier design that we released yesterday for sale.
THE CLECALL UPRIGHT CLECO PLIER
I am very proud to say that if it was not for the 600 hours working on my Zenith, I would have 1/10th of the working knowledge about engines and airplanes that I have acquired through this process. Even after flying for 14 years, I did not even scratch the surface of knowledge about engines, building methods, etc. until I started this project. And it is this knowledge that helped me bring this product to market. So Kudos to the home building process! It can build an airplane and a business!
We have received 520+ orders in just the last 24 hours, and I hope that you will find this creation to be as important to your project as I did mine. We really think it will save you a ton of time and pain.
The pliers are currently 20% off of the normal price until Oct 1st.
I look forward to continuing to help the Zenith community grow. Please contact me with any questions or feedback.
Sincerely,
Christopher Braun

Norm,
I couldn't agree more. I really like the idea of them "popping" to the eye. Thanks!
Norm,
Congrats! You are getting a 2nd set of pliers free with your order for being such a prompt response on the correct color!

Chris - the color choice is obvious! You need 3 colors: silver, copper, and black ... just like the clecos! I kept my clecos in 3 plastic coffee containers and kept a pair of cleco pliers in each container. If you color-coded them, it'll be easy to throw the pliers back into the appropriate container!
Also, you could then market them as a set of three for a slight price break, increasing sales! OOPS - sorry, I may have to delete myself for getting too commercial! ;>)

John,
I love that idea! If the pliers were for different size clecos, that would be awesome. Only downside it increases production costs bc of smaller batches of anodizing instead of one big one. But, doesn't hurt to keep the dreams alive!
Christopher,
I love the looks of your pliers.
I can't think of anything more easily seen than high visibility yellow used by most utility and city services to be easily seen in their vehicles.
Our brains are already trained to see that as an alert color.
That would certainly jump out at me lying on my work bench.

Agree..."dayglow" orange or high vis yellow

Chris,
I think you've got a hit here. I'm always turning my old-fashioned Cleco tool away from me so I can squeeze with my index finger near the handle end. Our index finger is stronger than our pinky finger and this arrangement allows me to work longer with less fatigue. Your design address' and and fixes this!
As for color, Red Anodized aluminum would be sweet!

Exactly! It's a lot easier to compress because of the angle of your hand and the muscles your are using. Plus it's 70% lighter. So, when you are putting in 100+ clecos on a wing skin or fuselage, you don't need Popeye forearms!

HERE SHE IS!!!! THE NEW RED ONE! ALL ORDERS WILL RECEIVE A RED PLIER, EVEN THOSE WHO ORDERED BACK TO 9/11. WE WILL USE THE SILVER ONES FOR PROMOTIONS.
NORM LAMBERT WILL GET A FREE SET OF PLIERS THROWN IN TO HIS ORDER TO GIVE TO A FRIEND FOR BEING THE FIRST PERSON TO SUGGEST RED! (KIND OF UNSCIENTIFIC)
