Cortec on firewall?

Does anybody know if Cortec would be okay to use on the front side of the firewall, between mating surfaces, or would it be to hot for Cortec to Handle?

The specs say it is stable up to 350F.

Hi Jeff,

Cortec is natural rubber so I would not recommend that you use it on a firewall engine side…it’s flammable.  I have been flying my Cruzer since 2018 with no treatment at all on the firewall and there are no issues developing even though I live in central Florida.  It is best to leave it alone but do use the Cortec on every metal to metal overlap in your build as I did.  If it starts to get a little thick on you simply add a little ammonia water to the can and stir.  This is how natural latex is collected and kept in liquid form prior to polymerization with the addition of acid.  If you have placed Cortec on your firewall already it is easily removed with either acetone or lacquer thinner.
