Hi There are a few things to check before buying another mag. Use an OHM Meter to check resistances from the spark plug end of coil wire to engine ground, then remove grounding wire from coil check from ground wire connection to ground. Then, grounding tab to end of spark plug wire.. Also check wire back to switch should show "open". Use a piece of brass shim stock, .010" thick to set the coil pick up to flywheel gap, clean any rust off before setting gap.. Check inside of cap and rotor for loose brass, corrosion, or just replace. All these specs should be found on Jabiru Austrailia web site.. https://jabiru.net.au/service/manuals/..
Jamie,
The mags can suffer from overheating - do you have cooling blast tubes installed?

Jamie,
Did you make sure all of the plug wires were pushed into the distributor cap? I had a big mag drop once noted on my Dynon EMS that a plug seemed colder than the rest. Upon removal of the cowl, all I could find was what seemed like a plug wire not well seated in the cap. I gave them all a good push and have not seen the same problem since. Every time I have the cowl off, I give all the wires a good seating push into the cap.

I just had this problem, it was a bad spark plug cable. I started with new plugs and then did a resistance check on each plug cable. I replaced the cable and mag check is back to normal. I decided to go ahead and order a complete set from Aeron, $145.
