You will likely not get weather while on the ground (need to have signal from a tower for 5-10mins). Aircraft will probably show up, but also not guaranteed if on the ground.

How high have you taken the Stratux, and for how long?

Gil

Just because you have the Stratus synced to your tablet does not automatically engage all the capabilities. If you have good GPS and a heartbeat verified I recommend you go into your EFB app menus and manually turn on these features. I had to do this using the Stratux and the WingXPro EFB, and when using the FlightPlan Go EFB app. I can see aircraft while on the ground but as Jason states some features require you to be moving.  Have fun but keep your eyes out!

What is the

efb app?

I have the pc hooked up to the Stratux wifi and it shows contacts and tail numbers,  altitudes no weather. nothing shows up on my gps or ipad except the green bar and artificial horizon.

Gil,

What are you using on your iPad for a moving map?

I use both my ifly and ipad in the cockpit  like I used o use two vors

Gil,

As previously mentioned, if you're looking at the Stratux with a ground-based PC, you're likely not going to see weather info until you're airborne and flying for a few minutes to allow the weather to load.  Typically, however, you can see traffic even when on the ground.

If this is not the case and you need further help, iFly customer support is excellent! Call them and I'll bet they can talk you through it!

Magic! this morning when I powered up the ADSB I had contacts and weather on the screen. Everything is in my living room right now, but I'm headed out to the plane in a little while to install & check everything. With the 601 are people using Velcro on the dash or suction cups on the bubble? Took me a while to figure out I needed to go to the web site on the Stratux Wi-Fi instead of my Wi-Fi for instruction on how to calibrated.

Hi Gil;

I tried a bunch of different locations in the plane. If you have the screw-on antennas and an attached battery pack, it won't fit on the dash (at least mine wouldn't). There just isn't a really good mounting place in the 601.After a lot of trial and error I ended up just suction-cupping it to the side of the canopy next to the co-pilot's seat.

Do the suction cups work well or do they let the unit fall off after a few hours? I bought the suction cup mount from Adventure Pilot and like you the only place I could find was on the side of the canopy, but I put it on the pilot side. How long does your battery last? What size is your battery in AH?

Thanks

Gil

This is the one I built about a year ago. I received my new chip today and all seems to be working as it should. guess I will keep as a spare.

This is my battery that was recommended:

EasyAcc 6000mAh Ultra-Slim External Battery Smart Output Power Bank Portable Charger with Built-in Micro USB Cable

I'm not sure how long it lasts, at least three hours but I've never let it run longer to find out.

I've only flown with it on the canopy probably four times. Each flight almost 2 hours. It hasn't fallen off yet. I did try it upside down on the roof of the baggage area with the antennas sticking out under the canopy. That fell off every time.
