There have been several posts about how to get RPM readings from the Jabiru.  On my Gen 4 engine with MGL avionics I have had good luck with a standard 10 MM proximity switch (sensor).  The key is getting a bracket to put the sensor within about 2mm of the passing magnets and setting the system to 2 impulses per rotation.  My sensor is a TAIS brand from Amazon Taiss 1PCS NJK-5002C NPN NO(Normally Open) 10mm Hall Effect Sensor ... , but if I ever have any heat issues with it the bracket of course fits any other industrial prox switch.

Can't tell from your pictures, but it looks like the Gen 4 doesn't have the same aluminum "spider" brace behind the alternator the the earlier Gen's have?  I drilled and tapped the spider to mount my Honeywell GT-1 sensor.  It just happened to work out I could directly bolt to this brace and have a 3mm air gap to the magnet!  I've got hundreds of hours on this sensor now and it is rock-steady reliable:

(This picture was taken before the wiring was routed and secured and the bolt safety-wired.)

There is still a spider, but the design is new.  As you can see I had to be creative to get the sensor spaced properly because the new spider is farther away from the magnets than yours.  I used one of the spider retaining bolts and one drilled and tapped hole to attach my bracket.
