Sounded nice and aircraft is looking good.

John,

Congrats on your 1st start.  Your 3000 RPM without a prop is almost exactly what I had for my 1st start without a prop on the Viking 130 on my Cruzer.  Looking forward to adding the prop and seeing what it does then.

Steve

Thanks Loren and Steve for your comments.  Got back to my plane today and looked at the throttle idle stop and noticed the plastic housing of the body was preventing a full closing of the butterfly. The locknut below was hitting the plastic. See this photo here, where I have now cut the corner off.  Still to be tested with another engine run.  This maybe the case on your project Steve?  I read some of your Log - an excellent record, and your Facebook Loren, also a riveting read (pun intended). cheers John

John,

My case was already cut off and looks identical to yours.  In addition, the end of the arm was ground somewhat to increase the travel in the closed direction.  I had emailed Jan about the RPM and he said to see what it is with a prop attached.  If necessary, he said the arm could be ground a bit further, but I think adding a spacer to move the stop forward a bit might work as well.  I'm just going to wait till I have the prop attached before making any mods.  In my case the RPM continued to increase as the engine warmed to about 3300.

Steve
