Hello,

I would like to know if anyone has the Viking engine installed and if you have any weights and performance numbers?

Thank you,

I like your post.

I installed my viking onto the engine mounts in about 30 minutes. Hooking up the fuel lines was a breeze. The cooling system is a very straight forward install. Still working on the electric...will get back to you once the ecu is delivered. It is now close to 6 months over due. Viking states they will be delivering them at the end of march....we'll see. The viking heater was an easy install. No weights yet...probably in 2-3 months. There have been multiple changes in the electric system. They ere currently recommending two batteries for a redundant system. Viking is coming out with an online installation manual which will help expedite installation.....so far it looks great.

It looks like that post was over a year old and has a smiley face at the end. So what, a guy comes here from another country and works his tail off to participate in what's left of the American dream and promotes himself and his product. This is experimental aviation and not certified aviation and carries inherent risks which make all of us somewhat of a test pilot whether we admit it or not. The great news is we can choose to buy another product. If I were to become unhappy with my engine I would sell it... Right now, it would disappear from the classified section in a flash... Happy building...
I have no complaints About the engine. Workmanship looks good, just frustrated with the poor communication from the company, lengthy delays with delivery of the ecu and sarcastic remarks from the owner.

Dont forget this is the same owner of the previous, but now unsupported Subaru conversions.

That too had a lot of enthusiastic builders...

That's what happened to my VW engine. It sits on a shelf in the hanger.

Experimental is just what the name implys, new untested risky and FUN.

Am I happy over delays in delivery, hell no. Do I expect them, hell yes.

As long as the estimates are kept close and not overly optimistic, I can live with it.

Of course, I would rather be flying instead of waiting for an upgrade, but that is out of my hands.

It will all work out in due time, we just need to have some patince that I am kind of short on sometime.

Viking 701

over 150 hrs. (I think)

I thought you found a deal on another engine back in January.

Me? (hate the way this forum posts replies are formatted), yah I got a Lycosaur for a decent price but I was still looking at a Viking as either a replacement if (and when) my 235 kaffed or would need a rebuild, or for a second build I'm looking at starting in a year or so.

Seems this thread has slipped out of view so I though I would post to it and move it back up to the top.  This is by far the most complete thread for Viking Engines so I would like to see that it stays up on top and active.  There should be a lot more Viking powered Zentihs flying around now so maybe we will see some new comments from our intreppid builders installing the viking.  We would love to hear how your build and eventual flying experiences are going.  Joe B
