How dose the engine get cooling air with this type of cowling?

Posted on July 30, 2011 at 9:00am 4 Comments

Hello every one,

I have this type of cowling http://www.zenith.aero/photo/dry-fit-cowling-8 and going to be installed to CH750 airframe, for Rotax 912S. The question is    dose the engine need in let openings for air cooling from the front of the cowling puting in consideration the high temp. in Saudi where it reaches 47c in summer time.?

Thank you all members for sharing experience …

At what stage the engine is better to be installed

Posted on July 4, 2011 at 1:00pm 3 Comments

Hello

I,m building a kit 750  bought it 2008 and  just finished installing the main landing gear and controls . The engine going to be installed is Rotax912, The questions are.

1- What type and  size of bolts and nuts  to fix the engine mount to the fire wall? there are 6 holes for that

2- Is it good time to install the engine now before joining the wings and tail?

 Thanks

wa alaikum essalam,

I am sorry for the late reply. been busy here in jeddah. Actually, we haven't finished yet! We are far from where you are now. The painting you saw in our picture is the future look of it as envisaged by one of the students!
We are building from scratch. Currently we are considering few al alloys but we haven't decide which one to go for. I am more interested to get my students understand stress calculations at this stage than building it. slowly but surely we will get there inshaa Allah. We are also considering composite materials since I have a lab to manufacture them here.

I have to agree with Clay. My shop is never that clean. But I never had enough money to make mine look that nice in the first place. Adel, what kind of corrosion proofing are you using?

If that's the case then I should certainly clean my shop up. Some days I spend about as much time looking for tools as I do building. I think my 5 year old has something to do with the tools being difficult to find though. He likes to carry them around and in typical 5 year old fashion, leave them where ever he decides they need to be. It's his way of helping. Oh well.. best father-son project I could imagine.

Great set of photos Adel. I have to say I think that might be the worlds cleanest shop. :)
