Hi Pat,

Been a long week, now its time to work on the plane.  I am starting to think about the Viking engine it  is starting to look like an option.  Lots of questions going thru my mind.  That's the problem with being an engineer!

Bummed that the show has been canceled.  But I will still probably make a bunch of trips out there as I volunteer at south maintenance and there are things that will need being done show or no show.  Grass keeps on growing, I supervise the weekend work parties for mowing grass.  I'm the guy who is looking at how the grass is holding up during the show.

But back to the plane I am stuck on the landing gear.  It sounds like the Viking uses a little bigger prop.   I want somewhat bigger tires.  Lots to think about'

When would be a good time to take a look at your plane and see how you did things?

Thanks

Glen

Hi Patrick, my name is Kay C. (K.C.) and I did my first flight of a plans built CH 640 back in January of 2018.  I’m kinda getting the itch to build again and I like the Zenith’s way of building affordable safe aircraft.  The reason I’m writing is I saw your pic of your 750 in a tailwheel configuration!?  I would really like to pick your brain on this configuration.  What modifications were needed etc.  I called the factory about doing this a while back but they were somewhat discouraging...which I understand but I still would like to talk with someone who has done it.

Thanks for your time.

Pat my 701 was used as a test end for the Corvair engine. I was not involved with the testing and have very few details on it. Once 40 hours of testing I replaced the Corvair with a Rotax ULS 100 HP new engine.

The Corvair, from what I heard was to heavy and even with the battery on the rear of the aircraft it flew nose heavy. With the Rotax it jumps off the ground and though I am new to flying, before I read about how impossible it is to land with flaps completed half of my first 50 landings with full flaps. Apparently, I was to green to know that this was supposed to be very difficult. My instructor also didn't know either, so half our landings were full flap and my take-offs equaled my landings. . . which is always a good thing.

HI Patrick,

I understand you are modifying a 750 kit into a tail dragger.  Do you have any pix of the conversion yet?
