Assemblies

Posted on November 23, 2010 at 11:33am 2 Comments

I have finished the rudder and the firewall. Rudder took some time, allot of hole to drill, enlarge, debur, cleco, and then rivet.Feels good to have a few assemblies done. On to the next one, I think it is going to be the Elevator.

As you can tell I have been updating my photos, with an index. Next, I will start showing more assemblies. I have been finishing the last of the parts, getting ready for the components. I forgot to order a sheet of .04 alum so I will be getting that in two days. Then can finish all the parts that I am going to manufacture. Should be with-in about two weeks. I really like the challange of plans building.

Hi Paul

We hope your doing well and your health issues are getting figured out in your favor.

We are still very excited/interested in your project. Your pictures show a great level of care and attention to detail.  I would love to present it to my EAA club for completion and to use as a teaching tool for our young eagles now and in the future.

Please also let us know if their is any other way we can be of help to you and or your family.

Thanks for your considerations toward our group and know our prayers are with you and hope your health issues are improving.

Howdy Paul - things are moving along here in Louisville... haven't had a chance to do much with the engine yet.  I'm seriously considering popping the lid off and do a double-check of the rod bolt torques, plus I need to block the crank in order to torque the safety shaft.  Mounted the step tubes on the fuse today.  I love Bowman field - there are a whole bunch of Zenith builders/flyers there, several 750's and a bunch of 601's.  I'm a few hangars away from Jeff Garrett, who is one of Zenith's recommended upgrade guys for the 601 mods. He has 3 601's and a 650 in his hangar!

Paul, I live in Magnolia off of 1488 about 2 miles east of Spur 149.  I've too have slowed down lately because of the heat - tends to take some of the fun away.  You can see my progress at www.mykitlog.com/sunmanav8.  We (me, you and Jeff) should plan a Saturday morning breakfast to sit and compare notes.  Let me know how your schedule looks.

Talk to you soon,

Sonny

Paul, you look to be progressing well with your project.  I am trying to get my major assemblies completed so I can start to get the main airframe together.  I hope your shop has AC as I have been hearing about how hot it has been in Houston lately.

Hi Paul, thanks for the nice comment on my Corvair. Yep, that's an Evektor Sportstar in my profile pic. I have noticed the same plane in your pic for some time and meant to send you a note about that. It's the aircraft I got current again in and have enjoyed renting. I intend to get some dual in a 601XL before I fly my plane but the SportStar has been a great plane to fly as it's performance is so close to the Zodiac. Regards / Dave

Thank you for your attention to the project.
I am also very happy with the progress.
The complete set weighed 95 kilograms, now managed
considerably reduce the weight of the engine exhaust.
The propeller is made of wood reinforced and even very big.
Note that the propeller hub is higher with the use of reductive.
I will send all data and video, wait for results of further test flights.
keep in touch and see you soon.
