Scott! Wait a minute! You are based at KANE?!! This is crazy. My daughter and family recently moved to a new home in Fridley, a few minutes south of your field. My wife and I are planning on moving up to that area when I retire in a few years. I was planning on basing at KANE as well! Small world!

Hi Scott!

Thanks for your message! Yes, absolutely please plan to come see my project when you make it to Fort Myers. Just give me a heads-up that you are coming. danphilgreen@gmail.com, 239-938-4416. And texting to that no. is fine. I purchased my project with much of the structural work done and it was set up as a tri. I would actually prefer a taildragger. I think they look better and I enjoyed learning to fly a J-3 many years ago, so I like taildraggers. But I'm trying to control costs as much as possible and I understand insurance is considerably more for a TD. So probably best the tri decision was made for me in advance or I would have built a TD!

Hi Scott.  I got your question in my email today.

The baffle material is standard 3" silicon baffle seal I purchased at Aircraft Spruce, part number 05-00810.  (https://www.aircraftspruce.com/catalog/appages/siliconecowlseals5.php).  I trimmed the standard 3" width down to 50mm (just under 2") using a straight edge and a utility knife.  It works great and should last a long time.

Hi Scott,

I agree.  I've been thinking the same thing about the uprights.

I have my kit for sale, however I am continuing to work on it.  I'm trying to get the fuselage on the wheels.  If I get it there, at least I can move it easier for my relocation.

Scott,

I'm building a tailwheel 650.  We should talk.
