I was preflighting my 601 this evening and when I took a fuel sample, the valve started leaking badly. I snapped the valve which reduced the leak to just dripping.  Turns out that the o-ring is not auto fuel safe. Anybody know of a replacement o-ring that can withstand mogas?See More

Homemade Tensiometer thoughts

I have been experimenting with tensiometer designs and want to share my findings.  My current version is based off of a design by Darrin Towers which is based off of a design in Kitplanes magazine. The theory behind this is simple. I start with replacing the >058 front tube with one fabricated from .120 wall chrome moly.

most Zeniths are destroyed when the tube folds under the plane.

There is a Die Spring chart to select from that list compression weight and inches.

For example 200 pounds to compress 1 inch etc.

I use a red one that I get from Fastenal. 30-40 bucks.

I might still have some in bags.

I have made the top plates and also bought just that part from Jan at Viking.
