Hi all

what wire and wire size are you all using on the mags and Alt?

The Jab 3300 wiring diagram has just plane 16G wire for the Mags to the grounding switches,

Aero Electric basic wiring diagram has it as 20AWG shielded wire.

For the Alt switching, Jab has  its the same 16G plane wire and Aero elec has plane 20AWG .

So I am confused..

Which to use with my Gen 4 and why?

thanks.

Chris..

I have to ask, why would you not use what Jabiru says to use?

Because I am using the Bob Nuckolls Aero Electric book for my wiring  and he has recommended shielding,

remember Jabs design is for a fiberglass aeroplane. I dont want radio noise..

Okay, shielding. It sounded like you were questioning the wire gauge. In your case, I would use 16 AWG shielded Tefzel. The larger 16 gauge allows the wire to carry more current than 20 AWG, and I would stick to manufacturer recommendations in that regard. Since you're using it for a limited purpose, the difference in weight would be almost non-existent. The price may be a bit higher, but again you aren't using much. The shielding makes no difference in suitability, as far as conducting electricity is concerned. It only provides protection for noise induction. Tefzel has a high enough temperature resistance that you could use it pretty much anywhere in a small plane. Bob Nuckolls recommends it too.

For shield grounding, noise, and avoidance of ground loops, you might want to look at this:

I'll try to attach that here as a pdf file too.
