This weekend I installed the aft side flashing on my CH 650 canopy and went ahead and riveted the turtle deck as well.

Good morning Dave,

My name is Mike, from Chicago, IL. I am building a Zenith 650B and I looked at your pictures while building. It helped a lot. Thank you!

I hope you don't mind if I ask you for a little advice.

I almost finished the canopy.

What material to use for the front canopy (aft side) flashing? I am talking about the plastic/metal band that is attached to the front canopy and sits over the aft canopy.

If it is metal, it will require a special cut. A simple aluminum 1,5" wide band won't work.

How did you do it? At least in your pictures it looks very nice.

Thank you again for posting the pictures and the explanations.

Mike

Thanks Larry! I have the flashing prepared and covered with shrink wrap. I installed it to test the final fit, but I'm not convinced it's that effective at sealing the gap for wind leaks. So I removed it for now and will be investigating the different types of weather stripping that may seal just as well or better between the two hoops. I saw you installed it .. how did it work for you? By the way, do you have the dimensions for that piece that secures the aft canopy to the turtle deck? None are listed in the plans.

Outstanding job! I'm just a short step behind you. Are you putting flashing over the gap, or am I just missing it?
