Bob Stuart (CH701 plans builder) makes a dandy set of skis for the CH701. Inside the outer "shell" of the ski is an extruded "L" riveted to the side skin of the shell. Note Bob uses a solid steel axle to replace the standard CH701/CH750 Matco axle to handle the higher loads required when flying back country in deep snow. There is a replaceable steel wear rod under each ski. The nose ski has one rod on each outer edge for positive steering. The ski actually lifts each side as it turns. Side loads are reinforced with side plates and extruded "L" brackets in between the side plates. Main gear skis are 48"X12" with UHMW plastic bottoms. Nose ski had to be made shorter because of prop clearence issues.
