The CH750 rear spar is 102 inches long...Too long to fabricate in one piece for us plans builders. So spliced 2 x 4 feet sections + 18 inches in the middle for splicing. Done !!!

Hi Michael,

quite a few publications related to this. In the USA this is the bible :

Search Google for : Aircraft Metal Structural Repair  (Chapter 4) page 110+.

Splicing spar seen as a REPAIR but does not have to be...

Also, Chapter 549 and AC43.13 are Canadian FAA (US) accepted method for aircraft repairs.

In Australia, there must be an equivalent publication which I'm not aware of. Certainly, you can use the FAA (US) document to ascertain your work.
