Excerpted from the I-Tec July 2009 "Flyer":
The President of Ecuador, Rafael Correa (dressed in white) brought an entourage to the Shell Airstrip June 20th to examine the newly finished Zenith 801 airplane. The President and the Ecuadorian government are discussing the kit built planes as potentially being Ecuador’s first certified airplane. This huge increase in demand will also allow the planes to be more accessible and available to preacher pilots and small Christian ministries. The President, who flew from Quito to Shell to view the airplane spoke for his country when he said, “This is what we need.”

Congrats Zenith. We saw a 801 at the recent Cloverdale fly-in. The 801 has almost as much chest hair as a Beaver!!!

First of all, congrats to Zenith and the Ecuadorian government. This is great!

That said, I'm a bit confused about the Ecuadorian president's response -- or the portrayal of it. Presumably, when he says "This is what we need", he means the indigenous production of aircraft in Ecuador, and not the specifics of missionary work, right?
