One of our mechanics had to fabricate some pieces which required flanged lightening holes. I took the opportunity to use the special tool and cut two flanged holes in the top skin. I plan on using these to increase cooling airflow circulation under the panel and thru the instruments, and possibly in the winter as defrost/warm air vents.

Hi Bob, I remember that..kinda where I got the idea I think? They make smaller fans that I plan on trying. If not up to the task then I will go with the computer type cooling fan. Have yet to experience any issues with need to defrost, but sure would like to keep things a bit cooler under the top skin.
I used a computer fan in my "panel top skin". Not as nice a hole but it defrosted window. See picture in my Can Zac build album.
