MIDO inspectors from Oklahoma City traveled to my hangar north of Tulsa to conduct the airworthiness inspection. N848DH passed with "flying" colors. I flew her first flight the morning of July 4.

Don,
Great job. Congratulations.
What a unigue idea timing that first flight for the 4th.
Wishing you all the best.
Bill
I KNOW THE FEELING HAVING BUILT MY 701 AND THE FIRST FLIGHT. THESE ARE GREAT PLANES TO GOOF AROUND IN.
well done Captain
way to go, congratulation
Thanks everyone! The streamlined struts seemed to smooth out my first landing compared to my flights with the factory aircraft. Engine oil temperature was running a little high, I have not trimmed any off the bottom cowl yet. Elevator trim was nose heavy--Rogers says take the bend out of the trailing edge of the elevator (it was intended for smaller engines). Kit build time was approximately 5 1/2 years. Avionics are ICOM A210 comm, GTX 327 transponder, Dynon D60 EFIS and Garmin Aera 500 portable GPS (dock mounted). First flight was only 18 minutes--need to work off flight squawks and install a tach hour meter.

Congratulations Don, You will have a blast flying it. Great design.
Vann, N701EV
Great!
But how does it fly without the engine cowling????
Which one are you? (the one without the tie?)
How long did it take to build it? From a kit, or scratch?
Mike
How cool is that, to take the first flight on "Independence Day"!
