I'm going to have a steam gauge airspeed for backup but I'm VFR only as well. I am going with a separate engine monitor as well. Between the Viking engine and this ILevil system I'm saving gobs of money but getting lots of quality and features.

The more I read about this, the more I like the idea. Quite cost effective and flexible, there are so many great iPad apps for aviation. I do worry about electrical failures and having no instruments but then if I am day VFR that shouldn't matter too much.

I-pads charge last alot longer than I-phones. On the extreme right are 3 cigaratte lighter plugins. I charge them anytime they drop below 20% or 10%, inflight or on ground.  I will probably use foreflight on the right I-pad and I-level hud W/engine instruments on the left one.

Will you be powering the iPads in flight, or will they be charged pre-flight and put into the mounts ?
