Hi Buz, yes, it's fun!

However, the engine is only a 912 UL (80 hp, no turbo). The highest achieved DA was  so far 15'200 ft. The actual service ceiling (climb@100 fpm) in the actual confguration is about 12'000 ft.

Sometimes we use also, like the gliders, wind- and thermal-uplifts to accelerate our climb. You may get up to 500 fpm @12'000 ft at the right spot.

Probably we will install a 914 once in the future, when our engine gets at the TBO. But so far our 912 runs fine. Regarding height performance of the 914: s. also here  In this configuration rather the pilot resp. his need for oxigen defines the limits... :-)

May I assume that your plane has the Rotax 914 turbo ?   Can you summarize the performance at that altitude.

Looks like fun !

Look!  There's Bigfoot walking the ridge on the far right! ;-)

Great shot and thanks for sharing!

Very majestic mountain !!

A couple of years ago, my wife and I successfully negotiated the logistics of getting as close as non-climbers can get to the top of the Matterhorn and the Schilthorn on the same day.

The weather was like in your photo — rare & perfect — which also made it a “must do”. We may have even spent as much time as you did up there. Unlike other mountain ranges, when browsing the 100 plus miles of visibility on all compass points from on top of the Swiss Alps, one truly feels on top of the entire world.

A great effort on your part. Thanks for the recollection of great memories.

Great shot.   Reminds me of our Southern Alps here in New Zealand.   Best I have done is 11000ft.

Well done mate.
