Hi Norm,  Be a piece of cake to add the tops later if you ever want too. Its such a high use area, you just won't have to concentrate on. More time for all the off field landings:)  Good air, Pat

Hi Pat,

Your comments made me think and I will cover those aileron rods...but only the bottom half. So, If I load something there it won't touch the rods but I'll still be able to see the rod end and verify that it is OK.

I knew I could count on somebody else experience for thoughts...

Thanks again for the comments!

Hi Norm,

I did my rear area exactly the same way, carpet etc..  But my ail. covers I used small stich screws to install the covers for future inspections, repair or adjustments, etc.. But I have to admit, I've had all kinds of crazy loads in back since I've been using the plane. Lots a camping gear trips. As well as other peoples stuff always goes back there every flight. I can say without fail, every load has always touched or been on the ail. covers. I would not be able to stop looking over my shoulder if they were not covered. But because mine are, I never think twice after the load is in an secure.  Theres one other spot thats very dangerous on the 701, thats directly under the control stick an the floor. Theres zero clearance almost. On my pre flight check list, one of the last things is to clear the floor, an tell all passengers nothing on the floor, period. There was a a guy that got a bic pen stuck under it, an almost smoked the whole thing, got it out last second. I think during the build this is a very clean look an set up, but I think your first serious load they'll be on your mind, or if anything falls in there, well, you can inspect the hatch area, which is a good thing. Beatiful plane, your gonna just love it. Pat

Will the Aileron push rods remain exposed?
