Even if the aluminum Beanie protrudes in front of the windshield, it is too high to block the forward vision when sitting in the plane. Believe me, I checked !

Hi Pat,
Thanks for the comments... I sat in the 701 with the completed roof (aluminum) clecoed in to see the difference in height...And I realize that without some kind of windows up there, it would be very dark inside even in the middle of the day. I will however make some sort of shades that can be open/close to suit ...
Regards,
Norm
It does have a look good, I like that you kept some lights in it too. :)
Hi Pat,
If you're talking for the Beanie modification itself : Done for increased headroom for me and better performance of the elevator/stabilitor at low speed while landing (flare).
If your talking about how it is done : looks better (my opinion) - 'feels more part of the original design' than an addon and the streamlined lines could have a positive effect...Altough the 701 won't win any race with or without this modification...
I would say : added headroom mainly, looks is a Bonus !
Keeps me busy !!!
Regards,
Norm
Norm, is this done for a speed increase, looks, or both?
