These are EGT (type K) probes connected to an LTC2983. (The one to the left is too flimsy, it won't be used).
The LTC298 (centre of the green board) has 20 channels and can use to read temperatures (thermocouples, RDTs, etc.), voltages or resistances. Some probes will take one, others 2 channels.
It's the start of a DIY (or MIY?) EMS.
For these tests, the chip is being driven by an arduino, but the final version will have a Raspberry Pi.
I am hoping the project will cost less than $1,000, probably somewhere between 600 and 800. Including a (colour) screen.
(The black plastic trays on the background are the package within which the chip - less the green board - was shipped. The chip is 7 mm x 7 mm...)

Hello, Robert
The LTC2983 uses SPI to "talk" with the arduino, and the same can be done w/ the RPi.
For graphics, I intend to use Open Frameworks. I have already created the graphics a while back - I have some pictures and videos posted here https://tinyurl.com/ydefd6z8 . The idea was to build an EFIS as well, and I was on my final steps when I was offered a free AHARS, to test and keep...
As you suggest, sensor input is the tricky part... So is finding a suitable screen (without breaking the bank).
I'll post my progress here from time to time.
I still need to finish the airframe. BTW, the engine is a Jab 3300.

Hello Carlos,
Good luck!! You will have to do some research when looking for your screens... Finding one that is moderately sunlight readable can be challenging.
You said you were going to try to us a RasberryPi.. Is the Chipset already supported by Pi, i.e. is there an applicable library that can be installed with linux? What program will you use to display the info you get graphically?
What motor are you using. One thing that always interested me was using a pi to display info sent from an engine over the OBDII port via blutooth. There are plenty of operating systems on Pi that support this type of run up. You can also look at Odroid... Very easy to install Android, and get the app store. I was toying around with a self made EFIS for a while operating on Android and using Odroid and commercially available EFIS programs... Got stuck at sensor inputs... Programming and wiring these little boards are a lot of fun. Let me know how everything works out.
