I removed most of the mill finish myself on a scotch bright wheel. Then took my nose wheel to AAA Metal Polishing to get the lower half extra nice. Twin Cities Plating then applied 0.0006" of high phosphorus electroless nickel plating.

Sir, if you haven’t done so already, please look up “hydrogen embrittlement “ a condition caused by plating. You need to have the part baked for a few hours. Your plater may have done this for you already.
