STOL Competition - Photo 1: Ready for Take Off
CH701 ZMX lined up for a STOL competition held at the Omaka Airport by the Marlborough Aero Club on Saturday Feb 2nd 2013. 55 pilots from home and around the country competed in 4 weight class categories. ZMX took out the microlight section flown by my (lightweight!) test pilot Jerry Chisum who averaged 18 metres to get it airborne. Glyn Jackson in CH701 JLZ was close behind at 20 metres. Scores were counted as the total of shortest distance for takeoff and for a full stop landing over two circuits. Jerry's winning score was 50.4 metres, mine 51.6 for 2nd and Glyn 78.8 for third.
