These are early 1970 VW Porsche Type 4 8mm roockers... they were used until early 1974... when they switched to 10mm rockers in the Porsche 914. I also have the set of 10mm... but will be using these due to the newest developments in adjuster technology. I will be using Porsche 911 swival foot type of adjusters... by BugPac called "Elephant Feet" swival foot adjusters.
These rockers a quite different then the VW Type 1 rockers! They used only 1 rocker shaft per head as opposed to 2 with the Type 4 head. Scat makes single heads for each individual cylinder for the Type 4 engine... that neans changing out pushrod tube, rockers & valves covers etc... some major engine mods here!
These rockers came out of a 1973 Porsche 914 with solid lifters. Notice the spring between the exhaust and intake rocker... this was standard with solid lifters. The rockers that were used with hydraulic lifters has a solid spacer instead of the spring. The race car guys found out that the spacers should be used even with the use of solid lifters especially in hi-rev engine. So those springs will be switched out for the solid spacers. This will keep the rockers from walking around on the valve stems at the 5000 - 5400 RPM that the engine is designed for!
