I've slowly accepted the fact that painting the fuselage won't get any easier than it is at this stage of the game. Time to build a paint booth and prep for paint I guess. Mixed feelings about this...

Luckily, I have a resource in this endeavor! One of our A&P mechanics use to work as an aircraft painter and the quality of his handiwork is well beyond what I need for this (or what mine would be). He has agreed to take on the project with me as his pseudo-yeoman. Too good an opportunity to learn about painting to not do this (versus polish) Because I have no yard space to set up a paint booth outside, the plan is to do the wings, fuselage prep, prime and paint in the workshop in a curtained off enclosure, box fans and full face, fresh air supplied mask. All the other (smaller) pieces will be done, time permitting, at his workplace. That's the plan for now...and as the saying goes - first point at which deviations begin!!
Use a portable tent style garage as a paint booth....outside.
Your results will be so worth the effort.
