SS 701 FireWall
I had a scrap of brushed SS left over from another Job and thought it would make a nice Firewall.
Also as Professional welder I know how sick Galvanizing can make you if you breath the fumes. :( yuk!

I want to echo what others are saying. Your work looks great. I'm especially empressed by the engine. Hope to chat with you some Monday. Oh yeah, I also used stainless on my firewall. I'm working on installing a Dan Wessman 5th bearing at present. I'll chat with you later.

Brady,
Thank you for the " head's up " on the use of stainless for the tanks. My intention was to weld in some baffles that would join the top and bottom togerther, there-by all but eliminating any oil canning, and by the same token, substancially reduce the sloshing of the fuel, since the baffle would only let a small amount of fuel to go from the front to the back or vise versa. I was also planning on using twin outlets, fore and aft, so that regardless of the flight attitude, I would have a constant fuel flow.
If you have any other thoughts regarding my explanation above, I would welcome, and appreaciate your comments

I think stainless steel would be a bad choice for fuel tanks, only because the tanks are certain to oil can as they go from empty to full and as the gas sloshes around, and stainless steel is prone to work hardening which produces cracks. I think the aluminum is a bit more forgiving and certainly lighter. But that being said, I have built tons of stainless fuel & water tanks for Yachts.

Brady, I'm happy to see that I am not the only one who chose Stainless for his firewall, you sure have a great looking part there. I also went with the same stainless, for my gas tanks.
