Mount for Dynon Pitot Tube

Posted on May 23, 2009 at 11:51am 1 Comment

Anyone thinking about using the Dynon Pitot Tube, should go to www.safeair1.com and take a look at their pitot mast. The reason will be evident - when compared to the cost of others ! One wonders ... too good to be true ? Ordered mine today. Guess I'll find out.

Hi Bennett,

I am interested in your 601 for sale. My friend in Indiana just sold his Vari-Viggen and he is looking for a project. I just got off the phone with him tonight and he said he is very interested. Please send the information you have to backstagelive@gmail.com or call me at 920-237-1450. I am up working on my project until 2:00 AM Cental. With this huge snowstorm we have going on in Wisconsin right now, I will be home working on the plane all day on Wednesday! Please inventory what you have and give me your location. Thanks.

Funny that you would mention the spar attach bolt sizes. Dad and I were just saying that we wish they were 3/8" rather than 5/16" because we could put more torque on them and get more clamping force at the spar joints. All the same no matter how hard anyone tries every plane is somewhat a one off machine that conforms to a basic flight and performance envelope. Oh well tomorrow we ply the skies yet again.

Oh and no.... no prepunched holes in the skins. Almost all the rivet holes were laid out by hand, pilot drilled, back-drilled, match-drilled etc. Like a handful of other builder/flyers on this site, I have well justified faith in the design and the way I fly it. Have no fear about our dialogue contaminating my attitude.

Slow-build entire kit purchased after a rudder workshop in December 2005. Finished and flown this spring. 45 hours so far with a couple more hours planned for tomorrow. My parade is rain-proof except for over-reaching government regulation.

I know exactly what you mean. "Okay, you sold me a kit with a factory built spar, hydraulically pressed or professionaly hammered big-assed solid rivets through precisely drilled thick components..... and now I'm going to remanufacture it? Let me get this straight now, the critical parts where the failures are suspected to occur, the most technically difficult part of the build which was factory done originally to make it feasible is what I need to improve on at home. Okay then, no worries mate".

All good sound thought there. On the other hand there are 2K plus planes out there having fun. I suspect many of them like you find the public discourse distasteful or useless so we hear a lot of squeaky wheels.

Sorry to see you go Bennet. Was this brought on by the ZBAG, NTSB, FAA,SAIB, seven crashes et al? For whatever reason, I will you well and hopefully a speedy return to buidling and flying.

Hi Bennet,

Nice to hear from you. I hope you are doing well and that your project is progressing.

The Jabiru engine, while not perfect, is still a good choice in my opinion. It gets better all the time. One could hope that by the time you are ready to buy, most of the bugs will be worked out of it.

Hi Bennet,
I would love to chat about our respective projects. MIne is an XL and will have a WW corvair motor built by Kevin Fahy. I am not quite 1/2 way done. My flight surfaces are all complete and I am just starting my fuselage. What stage are you? If communicating by email is easier that through the Zenith.aero site, feel free to contact me that way. email address petershean@aol.com
