Hi Gary, sounds like a nice set up. I have a 1 gallon header tank mounted just behind the seats in the hell hole that has a fuel sensor probe to let me know if I'm getting fuel starvation. I'm still using the poly tanks, no leaks to date so far. Love the airplane for STOL qualities!!
Here's a vid of my strip. http://youtu.be/Q0ZUfK4jW-o Frank
Hi Gary, How do you like the Pegastol wings. Have you accurately figured out your Unusable fual load? I fly the CH 701 with Pegastol wings also. Love the airplane. My unusable fuel load is about 5 litres per tank. Frank
Hello Gary,
I think that the proposal to s-t-r-e-t-c-h the microlight weight limit from 544 to 600 kg is not seriously being looked at by the folks at the NZ CAA in Wellington. I believe it will be a matter of time and that this change is likely to take place within twelve months.
If it comes to pass, the microlight category would be ideal for the CH750. Up to the present it is really a 'waste' to register the 750 as a microlight due to the much-reduced useful load when MAUW is just 544 kg. Extending this to 600 kg takes care of a heavier passenger and some extra fuel.
Hi Gary,
I understand -from email contact with the CAA this week about this matter- that next week there'll be a meeting to decide whether the 544kg limit should be raised to 600kg ...or not.
If this change does go ahead, it should be much easier to get the CH-750 classified as a "microlight".
Thanks for commenting on my cooling fence. It is good to hear that you think it will reward me for my efforts because obviously you would know.
So how are your temps going now both on the ground and in the air?
I unfortunately will only be reading one CHT and one EGT so initially I will have to do a carefull audit of my cylinders.
Phill
From your ground running of your engine, how are your temps behaving with your aluminium cooling fence.
Can you share some pictures of your setup?
Phill
If you were to do it all again, would you have chosen the CH-701 still, even though the 750 is now freely available?
Just wondering: how is the painting of the plane getting along?
Welcome to the group
Your have a good looking 701 it will be great to see it fly
Cheers
