Hello,

Hi Tommy,
I sent you and email at your cableone.net address. I don't know if that's still valid since the email I read was from a 2009 Matronics list post. Here's my question:
Tommy,
I found a 2009 email from you on Matronics list noting that you had a Czech built muffler for a 601. I have a Zenith CH701 with the Czech built muffler system. I don’t know if the 601 exhaust is the same as the 701 or if by any chance you still have it laying around 12 years later, but if you do, I’m interested in it. I suppose it would be too much to dream that you might have the header pipes that go from the 912 cylinders to the muffler? My header pipe for #3 cylinder broke at the weld and #4 has a crack just waiting to break. Tried a welding repair, but no joy so far. In any case, if you’re still out there, I’d appreciate hearing back.
Thanks!

Hello Tommy,
I'm in Elmore AL (between Wetumpka and Prattville) and am about to pull the trigger on a 801. I was hoping for a 701, but this one has sort of fell into my lap.
Anyway, I'd be interested in gleaning from you. I'm in the Anniston area alot as I work for Alabama EMA and am in the area quite often. Are you willing to share your knowledge, insights, heartbreaks, triumphs, mistakes, fixes?
Thanks and great flying!
I doubt I will get up there. I will be at SERFI in October and that will probably be my only outing this year.
Tommy
Are you planning to attend the mid Atlantic fly in at North Carolina in May?
Actually I finished (nearly) my XL last year just about the same time the NTSB letter came out. All that remained before getting it inspected was a few plumbing issues from the wings to the engine compartment and instrument panel and adding all the markings required for certification.
After receiving the NTSB letter I decided (along with my wife) to ground the plane until the NTSB issues were resolved. This particularly included the aileron mass balance and stick gradient issues. I wasn't expecting a major redesign of the wing spars, but I appreciate the fact that that occurred.
My plan before seeing the FAA report was to install the upgrade kit and start phase I flight testing of my plane. Now I am not so sure. The FAA report seems to indicate there is a real need for further testing after the upgrade is finished.

I found the gascolator that goes with the tanks.
Please send me your address and I will put it in the mail to you.
It is about a $60.00 item I think.
Tommy
Yes, it is fun to get out on the runway and play after all the work putting it together. Next, we will play in the sky.
