N750MV was built by the late Marv Vanderpool. It was to be the latest in a string of prize-winners built by Marv, the previous one being a Lancair. I bought it because his widow wanted to sell it and for the exceptional craftsmanship. I was also impressed by the fuel-injected, brand-new Continental/Mattituck IO-240 (125hp) engine and the steam-gauge panel (I'm old-fashioned and like to keep my head out of the cockpit as much as possible).

While I am not a builder, I'm eager to learn, and do as much of the work as I can, supervised by an A&P.

I started flying in 1962, but gave it up in the early '90's. I started shopping for some kind of light-sport airplane with back-country capabilities in 2012, and fly according to light-sport rules.

I grew up a country-boy, and feel most comfortable there even though I live in a city. My wife and I travel as much as her schedule allows. We own two 4-wheel-drive vehicles, a Ford F-250HD with air-bag and Bilstein suspension with an Outfitter pop-up camper, and a custom built (Callen/Chappelle) Mitsubishi Fuso 4WD dual-wheel "expedition vehicle." We plan to sell the Outfitter and the Ford soon. (9/25/15)

Thank you for the offer to use your plane. Peter and I have both gone to Buzzy in Tennessee and got checked out in the CH750. I just got back from there and haven't yet flown the 750 we have here.

Hello Wayne,

The information above on hours flown per day was compiled by Bob.  He is stating the number of hours flown, not that they are non-stop.

That said, my 601 has the two-15-gallon-tanks option. I fly at best-economy, which is about 95 mph.  At that speed I am burning about 3.5 to 4 GPH which provides almost 7 hours duration with a modest reserve.  The trip did have some very long legs, by design.  One need to have those long legs if you fly a different route.

You can see the accrual route we took by following the links to the larger picture collection (see the top of the blog post for the links).  In the picture collection are screen shots of the route flown overall and each day.

Keep in mind we intended to fly off the beaten path into wilderness areas.  Each plane had a DeLorme inReach two-way satellite tracking device so our location was known to family and friends to the nearest 10 minutes.

Without the tracking device if a plane were to go down in some of the places we flew, it would likely never be found because we were not on accepted/expected routes.

Steve

I don't know anything about this friends part of the website . I don't do Facebook.
I live on a small ranch in eastern Montana ,near North Dakota . I have a wife and 4 kids. I am an A&P and CFI. I don't own this CH750 it belongs to another rancher. I finished it for him and he wants me to test fly it and then give him some dual in it. Problem is his insurance company won't let me fly it without some time in type.
