My first order of 6061-t6 sheet arrived a few days ago very well wrapped from the supplier. After going through the plans for a few days now, i realise that i will have to order more material. The…Continue
After a lot of research on which engine to use on my plane, I have finally decided on a winner. I feel that the Honda Viking aircraft engine fulfills all my criteria and has come out tops. I would have absolutely no hesitation in recommending it to other builders of aircraft in the LSA category. If any builder has any concerns they only need to go to the Viking website and download the provided installation manual for their engine. I believe that it is far more useful than any information that I had available when I installed a Rotax 912Uls on a Savannah S. Well done Viking Aircraft Engines.

I will definitely contact you if unsure of anything. So far so good. I go slow with progress , believe in eating it as how one will eat an elephant....bit by bit but with very much enjoyment and precision. My biggest question at this time is to select a reliable engine....still prefer the 100 hp Lycoming above all other makes and models...still a bit scared for the latest fuel injections such as the 6 cylinder Jabie ect .....also not sure if the UL fuel injection engine has proof to be the ultimate engine ?.. Rotax still attracts me as the second best. I believe the Yaris motor has started to become very popular ( low cost ) but I am not convinced that a motor car manufacture can cater for flying reliability. ( dual ignition ect )
Maybe you can share your experience with me.
Greetings
Danie Taljaard
Hi there,
Just searching for someone that has built an 801 from plans. According to the zenith aero web it looks like you have? If so, then I would like to ask about the build process.
Thanks,

Martin. Where the hell ya been?
I have to agree with you.
Hi Martin,
Thank you for your comments. I have to say, you are not alone cursing those terrible plans.
I am building a 750 and was thinking of upgrading to an 801 becasue of the type of flying I am planning on doing in Northen Quebec. I need more payload to go fishing, hunting, camping etc
I did visit 4 builders of 750 builders in the last two weeks and all of them are all frustrated with the quality, completness and clarity of the instructions/manuals/plans.
Their management of plan revisions is absolutely irresponsible. We are left to ourselves via this community to figure out what's the latest update and if it's mandatory, optional, etc.
Their instructions are of poor quality and leave the builder scratching his head most of the time...-:)
Most of the time i find very important technical assembly instructions...WAY TOO LATE in the build ....-:)
They should survey their customer and I bet the management of their plans/versions will be close to #1 priority.
As soon as we post anything that's not to their liking.. (like constructive criticism) they delete the post.
it's a sad way of supporting your customers.
If I ran my software company this way.....I wouldn't be in business for too long.
