Is your 601 flying and if I were to come down could you give me a check out. I am a former CFII with about 2000 hrs in mostly Cessna, Piper & Beachcraft & some Citabria time. I am about to get my 601XL airworthiness cert and need time with an instructor for my insurance before the first flight. Even though the factory is only 2 hrs away, they have not been responsive to my requests to fly.

I finished the forty hours today and I'm looking forward to fly-ins, airshows, and pancake breakfasts around the state. I also hope to visit some builders who are in neighboring states within reach. Rest assured, vigilance and continued tweaking are still on the agenda.

Just got insurance check yesterday. Still looking at a few options. Found out my insurance is going up about $7500 this coming year because of this.

Any progress on replacing the LSA yet? I'm now halfway through the 40 hour phase one without any serious incidents. I have to re-epoxy a flow diverter in my right cooling duct that got loose on the last flight. No big deal, just a half hour job at the most. I'm eager to finish the forty hours; my 50 mile radius is getting old.

Glen was just as you described. He was professional and objective throughout. We passed the inspection and are looking forward to first flight. Our Wx is good but winds are brisk and we have aircraft arriving for an aerobatic contest this weekend. I will wait for the situation and conditions I prefer for the first flight.

Michael, today is the day of the inspection. If Glen does not find any serious issues, the Papa Goose will be in Phase 1 flight testing by the end of the afternoon. I'm not planning just button it up and jump in though... I want to do the first flight under less distraction than today's schedule. Perhaps I'll get to put your teaching to use and send you a first flight report by this weekend.
