Zenith 750 Cruzer, Landing gear problems

October 10, 2024

The front whell axle does not fit the hole in the fork.

The notch on the main landing gear does not match the studs. Also the studs are slightly turned inward.

Distance between the notches - 1145.

Distance between stud tops - 1138.

Distance between stud bottoms - 1133.

Installed the SAFETY ALERT – DECEMBER, 2023, Nose gear bearing, C75L3-1 side plates, AN3-42A, AN3-43A.

Tapped 2 rear holes and countersunk 2 front holes.…

Primed and painted the cabin frame.

Checked the need of washers on the forward fuselage. Since the drawings are not always correct I had to check every bolt kind for the number of required washers.…

Painted the strut mounts.
Deburring the front fuselage parts.
Tested the torque tube rear bearing fitting. Not good. Talked to Zenith. They will send me a new bearing.

Zenith 750 Cruzer, Primed the right strut mount

I drilled the skin holes incorrectly. They are elliptical. Drilled a set of holes below.

I am thinking about adding rivets in between the bad holes. The spacing allows it. Rivet A5 is 4 mm, the current distance between holes is 25, 29, 35 mm.

Zenith recommended to use A6 rivets or AN3 bolts for the damaged holes. I opted for the bolts.…

Assembling the flapperon actuator and the control mixer.

Used 9V battery to check if the actuator can turn the mixer bar.

By Zenith advise used ACF-50 as the lubricant. It looks like it works.…
