Slack Rudder Cables

When I adjusted the rudder cable tension the wings weren't on the plane yet and the nose gear was near the bottom of it's travel.  I had 25 pounds, both right and left.  But after the wings were on, the nose of the plane was several inches lower.  Since the firewall slants back this has the effect of loosening the rudder cables.  They are totally slack now!

Here's my question.  If I tension cables now the tension my be right on the ground, but the tension will increase drastically…

Tuesday Night Chat

Well Monday night chats have thus far been a bust.  Let's try Tuesday night and see if we get more takers.  Come tell us about your project.  Ask questions.  Look for some encouragement, or just shoot the breeze.   We'll start at 8 PM Eastern.

Weekly Chat

A few years ago we had an active weekly chat that at somepoint went silent.  I'd like to see it revived, this time using this sites built in chat room.  We use to do it on Monday evenings.  I'd love to see this get going again. Any opinions?

Brake Fluid Selection

I've finally finished running the brake lines and would like to know what type of brake fluid to use.  I'm using Matco brake cylinders and matco disk brakes.

I like the idea of non-hydroscopic.. Is that what they mean by DOT 5?

How have others of you set a value for their plans built planes?  I would think that for insurance I'd want a high value, as to be able to replace it, but for taxes it…

Cowling Fasteners

I've been looking at the Aircraft Spruce catalog and trying to figure out what parts I need for fastening my cowling closed.  I've been looking mostly at DZUS fasteners.  I'm finding it hard to figure what parts are needed from the catalog and or website.  There especially seems to be missing information when looking at the flush type DZUS fasteners regarding required parts and sizes.

Does anyone have some suggestions on what to use.  I've done flush rivetting throughout the…

Making Landing Light Lens

I recall seeing an excellent web page about making a landing light lens using an oven. Could someone post a link to that page or similar. I've lost the bookmark.
