701 Side Slips?

Still making progress on the slats for my 701.  These special STOL surfaces have got me thinking about short field techniques.  My past Maule and Champ were both great STOL performers.  The Maule used 50 degrees of flap to get in short fields, the Champ used side slips.  I preferred the side slip as it was easy to put in and take out to adjust the descent.

Holiday Down Time

Using patterns for CH701 bracket holes in stabilizer

After reading manuals and watching video to figure out how to cut my stabilizer skin for the brackets I decided on my old boat building, hot rod building style. I used some stiff cardboard to make a pattern for the cuts along with rivet holes in the pattern for the spar and ribs to line things up when I transfer to the actual aluminum skin. band saw?

I am having trouble cutting brackets for my tail section using my horizontal band saw. Pieces are too short for saw and angles too great for rotating table. What have you used that gave precise angled cuts?
