I just got the bill for my 701 insurance. I thought would be interesting to compare rates with other's.

I'm from Canada and my 701 is registered as a Advance Ultralight. My deductible is $1500. My Insurance consists of All Risk Flight & Ground, Hull Value $50,000. 3rd Party Liability Coverage $1,000,000. Passenger Coverage $300,000. My Annual Fee is $2400. This cover my wife also who is a student pilot and will be taking lesson on our 701 from a instructor.

What were your experience levels ( hrs, model etc). Did you have to get time in another plane for first flight insurance? What engines did you folks have? You can post here or reach me directly At:

$900 p.a. - $500,000 third party cover. $10,000 passenger cover. No cover for airframe in flight. $20,000 cover for fire or accidental damage in the hangar. No cover for instruments, theft, vandalism, acts of God or military or militia actions. Only valid for Territory of Ghana - international travel will carry extra premiums, case by case - hour by hour - day by day.... We think this is good for a West African state - it is provided by the State Insurance Company and fully underwritten in the sub-region. It took more than 10 years to negotiate....

The rate sounds about right for "all risks in flight & ground". If you go to amphib floats there is a "Double Whammy" rate percent increase. Part increased because of float operation and an additional premium surcharge for "Amphibs." I go with the COPA Silver Wings program, no-in flight coverage but the liability covers any aircraft I fly. I share ownership of a 2005 CH601HD and I own my CH750... so the addition of the CH601HD is only another $400/yr (split with the other owner = $200) on my CH750 policy which gives a total of $1,700 / year both aircraft. You can get to be insurance poor with multiple aircraft. I dont need them to work, so they are insured as "toys". I made them and I can fix them if I am careless. I do keep them in a steel hangar which is the best insurance you can put on an aircraft.
