CH-601xlb with Viking 130 engine trip to Marion, Iowa (C17)
On 6 July 2018 was able to fly my CH-601 to Marion, Iowa (C17) and back. Got to visit with my younger brother and wife. It was as always a special visit. I’m so lucky to be able do this on a day when his health is good. That is why I enjoy my CH-601 equipped with the Viking 130 engine.
My original engine failed me twice on trying to make this journey.
Have about 91 hours on the Viking 130 turning a Whirlwind prop. This reliable configuration gives a warm fuzzy feeling every time I fly.
Here is some of the numbers on the 2 flight.
Rpm 5100, engine oil pressure, fuel pressure, gear oil temperature and coolant temperature all in the green with outside temperature 75-82 at 5,500 feet. Average ground speed 121 mph burning 5.4 gallons per hour. True airspeed 135 mph.
Return trip same except ground speed 133 mph.
Dynon autopilot worked Grrrrr8
The numbers are not fantastic - but the completed flights were.
