I had a very enjoyable flight to KOSH last Friday. This my 601's first time at Oshkosh. I'm happy with the plane's performance. I was able to bring everything I needed for camping and carried plenty of fuel for a maximum of 3 hour legs with reserves. The route was KGON KIPT KAKR KVPZ RIPON FISKE KOSH. I was given a choice of 27 or 18 at KOSH. I chose runway 18 being that last year I was assigned 27. A video of the approach and landing is forthcoming.

The flight stats are:

980 statute miles
Flight time: 10.2 hours
Total time including stops: 12 hours
Fuel used: 67.2 gallons
Avg ground speed: 96 mph
Indicated airspeed: 115 mph
TAS: 118 mph
14.6 mpg
Altitude ranged from 2000 to 4500 feet

It was great to see you again, Ken. It was also nice to meet your airplane for the first time. Lookin' good!! I met the engine (or at least some of your engine, a work in progress at the time) at a Corvair College a while back. It is wonderful that the finished product is now flying. I need to get off my duff and get serious about my Zenith. Keeping the old Stinson airworthy takes a lot of time that should be building time, but she surely is fun.

Dave, it was good to see you too. The trip home is almost done. I'm in KIPT as I type this getting ready for the final leg home. The one week wonder was a lot of fun. I can't wait to see it fly.

Ken,

It was good to see you and your 601 make it to Oshkosh.  You certainly also went above the call with all the time spent on the One Week Wonder project. I hope your return trip also went well.
