After noticing my nose strut sticking up thru the top of my firewall a little more than usual the last couple of flights I contributed to normal stretching of the bungee 65+ hrs on the plane a closer look I found the cord had about a 1 inch section on the left front than was only about 5/16" thick original is 5/8" the outer covering was in good shape the rubber inside had all but broken. Has anybody else had a problem like this with only a little over 65 hrs on the aircraft. Also will take any suggestions on the replacement process and prevention of this happening again.

Shock cord is color coded for date of manufacture. The series of color stripes on the cord indicate date of manufacture and this pattern is repeated every 5 years. Shock cord has a replacement duty cycle of 5 years. Most cord expires during the building process. Simple to replace and cost is around $100 at Aircraft Spruce. Bungee part number is on plans. Use a 1/2" ratchet to lever the new shock into place on the gear tube. See pictures on my page.
