UL260i? Yeah, its really that light!

Our ULPower FWF kit is coming together. The cowl will be back any day now. As you can see, the engine hangs out there quite a ways. Much time was spent on determining where the engine should be located to make the CH650 remain in CG with about any possible loading scenario. The engine comes in at 170 lbs. with prop, baffles, and oil. A very light 95hp, and now there is a high compression 260 that burns 100LL and is 105 hp. The empty weight of the 650 is under 720 lbs. for a 600 lb. useful load.

Gus, Could you please comment on the corvair in a 701. I understand you did this combo. Thanks

The 912 is the one that I really want to get on my scale. I know the engine itself is light but it carries around a bunch of other stuff to make it run, so I'd really like to know an installed weight. Take a look at the Breezer. It is a 601/650 size and shaped LSA with a 912 and a long nose.

Gus,
That picture of the long mount, brings one question to mind for me. How much does an installed 912ULs weigh?

Stephen, I'd like to have your scale. :) The Jab 3300 I have here weighs 181lbs without, prop, baffles, oil, and exhaust. I have weighed many engines and read many brochures and the numbers vary widely. The only weight that matters to me is the installed weight ready to run. The "empty" weight of the UL is 152 lbs.

Hi Clemens. The UL is a relatively new, to the US anyway, engine from Belguim. The one in the 650 is 95 hp and there is also a 105 hp version available. It has electronic fuel injection and ignition. Fully FADEC. Engine cost for the 95hp is about $16,500 depending on exchange rates. After we finish the 650 installation we will be putting it in our 750 to make a FWF kit for it. Hopefully by Oshkosh.

May I ask what a UL Power unit is? Would it work on my CH 750? What cost?

That is one wild looking engine mount and a very nice empty weight. Your 650 is going to have quite a snout on it! Cant wait to see the pictures.

My Jabiru 3300 is 178 pounds. If it sat out like that my plane would not have is slight aft-CG tendencies.

Steve
