Zodiac 601XL First flight - reg 19-7075

Hi all – Mirko here from Melbourne. Finally - completed all of the required upgrades on the 601XL and have also successfully completed its first flight on Sunday. Could not wait any longer to tell all my friends, Zodiac members/builders/pilots/new comers and who ever is reading this, that this will be a memorable occasion. Man o man, I cannot even start to express how happy I was to here the test pilot commenting on how well the aircraft performed, explaining that the 601XL ranks high on his list – NOW!, he himself was very surprised! I can go on and on, but all I can say to all is you will not be disappointed, not at all.

One more thing, to all of team at Zenith(Caleb especially, he received most of my questions -bla bla bla) for helping me build this wonderful aircraft - I’m sure I’ll be enjoying myself flying the 601XL totally. – YES IT IS TRUE MAN WAS MEANT TO FLY!

Hi Jake, no had my aircraft nearly finished then apart again for upgrade. The final inspection went well, so did the first flight, a slight Aileron trim need was only need. Again my test pilot comes from the old school his a very hard to please instructor/aerobatic pilot type. I thought to myself after he landed and approached to me with that stone look on his face- that here it goes bad news all around - BUT NO! he said WOW absolutely a great responsive plane sat like a train on rails, trimmed the aircraft at 115kts and flew wonderfully straight an level. He said it was like flying a sports car - he added - all you need to do is is to get familiar with the sensitivity of the controls, sneeze he siad and you start to turn. The test pilot has flow a wide variety of LSA type aircraft including stuff over $145000 AUD and said the 601XL matched them and even surpassed them. The Jabiru standard 3300/prop set up gave us around 1400ft/m climb at 90kts with 60lts of fuel not bad. Hope all out there are working a little harder now on their kits – no bloody accuses. Bye from the man down under(Mirko).
