Hello Henri you are right about the 750 but I would think the savanah would out preform it. the group that I fly with in NZ there is 2 x ch701 a foxbat and a savanah the foxbat and the savanah are way higher cruise speed than our 701 the savanah has a wing profile that follows all the way through the cockpit so the ceiling of the cabin is the sam shape as the wing and is a much slipperier plane with approach speeds down in the high 30knt range but very floaty unlike 701 comes down like a lead balloon. 701's rule the river bed though

Hi Deane it would indeed no longer be a 701 but a 701 cruzer just like the 750 cruzer is no longer a 750. The 701 is in Europe classified as an ultralight aircraft. A lot of people do not need the STOL capabilities but would still like to have a high wing more speedy, easy to build and cheap to maintain ultralight. This market share is now snatched away by the Italian kit "Savanah". It started as a 701 copy and is now successful as a modified and faster version. As I am building two 701's I would like to keep an original one and would convert the second one to a "701 cruzer" and have the best of two worlds :-)

if you change the design then its no longer a 701 why fix what is not broken the 701 is a perfect plane for what it was built for my personal opinion
