I'm guessing then, you don't have to put as much effort into it as folks do polishing their planes to shiny bare metal (you didn't explain the technique). Those folks typically cringe when they get dings or scratches after doing all that work. I thought this might be the same.
That is a cool looking effect. I probably won't get to see it in person so keep posting those pictures and videos.
its a bush plane as long as it looks good from a distance i don't really care about scratch's dings etc. I just like to be different and have had this concept in my brain for a while so just had to have a go
