Online Community of Zenith Builders and Flyers
Greetings builders...
I'm just now fitting the cabin frame and have a question:
I trimmed a few mm off the top tubes, and angled them, to get the pilot hole in the tube to reach it's companion pilot hole in the gusset. No problem...
But in order to get the bottom tube into its position, I'll need to cut about 10-15 mm off, and that cut would actually go through part of the weld on the frame. In the picture, the upper line is through the pilot hole, and the lower line is down from that the distance to the longeron. You can see that the cut would intersect the bead.
Is this typical? Is it OK to go ahead with these cuts?

if i be you i"ll e-mail or call zenith directly for further asistance.since the cut you have to do is very critical this could weaken the frame welded structure.
to my concern 10mm will be the tolerance before the weld OR
you can cut right though the weld but you may going to have install an plate and weld it at the bottom of the frame where the cut took place.
however there are some professional welder in this website that will guide you with right decisions
