Hey gang,

Phase 1 is complete today. As a matter of fact my first flight out of area was to Hillsdale to return the borrowed Prop to Brother Roy.  If he had not done that, I would have been a month later getting to this point.

Its looking like I will be flying my creation to Oshkosh.  One squawk is the radio not transmitting, the other is a minor oil leak. Otherwise, we are moving on to Phase 2, which will start with a bath and an oil change. Yesterday I made 10 landings at different small grass strips while gathering performance data, that and the oil leak makes for an interesting belly on the airplane.

My hangar mate made signs, all laminated and such, so it would be a shame to not use them.

See ya at Oshkosh,

Super Ron, enjoy Osh & phase II.

Wow, sounds like a record for completing Phase I.  See you at OSH!

Anytime I think I am too busy or unable to complete something promptly, I will think of your incredible feat - flying off phase one is less than two weeks. I have been flying the time off a friend's 601XLB and hit 23 hours yesterday. I have been at it for months, in between the other things in my life. You rock, Mr. Lendon!

Bob, the only way I could have done this was and is by only doing that one thing. Got to the airport at sun up and worked at it all day like a job. I did take my hammock and rested when necessary and drank lots of water. One day down for weather and one down for maintenance. Following the Andy Elliot test plans from the Flycorvair.com Flight Operations Manual gave me much more confidence in the engine. Expanding the envelope in hundred degree temps gave me good insight the the performance of the complete package.

I lost a few pounds in the process also. The bubble canopy and non insulated airplane make it like a sauna inside when the temps are above 90F.

See you at Brodhead!  :-)

Pat

Yeah! Planning the stops now. Plan on being there Saturday around noon or so. Flue stop planned at C77.
