Andre how is it running so far?
Thanks for asking, It is running strong on the ground tide to the tractor at full throttle 7000RPM 12 degrees pitch on warp drive prop, 465 lbs of pulling thrust.May have to tame down
do yourself a favor buy two Noral Enterprizes cushions ($65.00 each) good foam I suggest Size "A" 2 inch thick. For the money you can't beat 'em and they look good. You'll find them from Pilot supply, Marv Golden, pilot mall, spruce etc or call them direct like I did.
thank you for responding, appreciated
That product looks interesting, Dan. Thanks. It appears to be a budget version of the Oregon Aero generic cushions. Less expensive but also less exotic foams. Life is full of trade-offs. I shall have to look into them. If nothing else, these would be an excellent way of having affordable additional cushions in seldom used thicknesses available for guests in order to taylor the seating to the occupant. Get an expensive cushion sized for me, the permanant occupant, and have a selection of the other cushions for company.
Oergon Aero makes cushions for the 601/650, maybe they make one for the 701 also. Their product is top of the line, memory foam, temper foam, shock absorbing foam, built up in layers, FAA approved fire retardant materials. Not cheap, but top quality.
They also make generic cushions, both seat bottoms and backs. The two halves zip together. So, you can use various thicknesses of bottom cushions depending on the size of the occupant and zip it onto the back cushion. The generic back cushion includes a velcroed on lumbar support that can be moved up or down to suit your preference. The back cushion is only available in one thickness, two inches. However, I have been told by them that they will make custom thicknesses for a nominal extra charge. The back cushion is meant for use in a car or an office chair, so it has straps on it to secure it to the seat back. We will not need the straps in our planes so I plan to just cut them off.
I plan to use the generic cushions in my 601XLB. I have been flying a friend's 601XLB and have used my cushions in his plane. They are very comfortable. He has the Oregon Aero cushions made specifically for the 601 in his plane, and they are VERY nice. However, they sit the occupant up high and I am tall, so I prefer my generic cushions so that I can taylor the height to suit my needs. The generics also cost a LOT less money.
The generic cushions are called their Soft Seat systems. The bottoms can be had with and without a cut out in the front to leave room for a control stick to move around, if needed. They do not list their custom built seats for the 601 on their website, but they do have them. Call and talk to someone if you are interested. I do not know if they do a custom one for the 701 but they could tell you.
thank you for responding to me most helpful
