anybody have any info on the ability to run %10 ethanol auto gas in an aircraft engine, and what needs to be done to the engine? I have a general idea, like fuel lines and gaskets need to be compatible. I just need more details

I just see how hard it is to get ethanol free and I know it's not gonna get easier. I just want to build in the ability to run it in the future

I have run unleaded fuel in my kitfox for the last 10 years 8 years ago or so they started to put 10% ethanol in the fuel for a winter blend and the last 3 years its been full time 10 %. My plane has aluminum tanks and the clear tygon  fuel lines. I change the fuel lines when they get yellow (about once a year). I have to have the flex of the tygon to fold the wings, and I like to see the fuel in the lines as I turn on the valves. the engine is a Verner 133mk (84hp air cooled two cylinder reduction drive) and has never complained about what I feed it. other than the fuel lines and the slightly higher fuel consumption, there is no problem with the ethanol.  My 750 is getting all aluminum fuel lines and a Lycoming 235 8.5 to 1 compression engine and will still eat mogas with the 10% ethanol (just more of it).   just what I have noticed

On another note If your engine is a certified engine and has an certificated prop combo then it is still a certified engine and you only have to fly 25 hrs. in phase 1.  The hard part is to find a prop that works with your airframe.

I own and operate a Rotax 2-Cycle (Oil Injected, NOT mix) engine in an aircraft.  I burn 10% Ethanol autogas only.  I fly with many, many people who do the exact same. 

There are two keys to success:

1) A system that has no alcohol sensitive components.  No fiberglass tanks, no gaskets, etc. etc. that react or swell. 

2)  Fresh Fuel.

Two is what bites people.  Airplanes sit.  Whether we intend to or not... they sit for weeks or months.  DRAIN OLD 10%+ fuel. That is THE KEY.  Stabil and things like it only help a little.  

Fly that plane, or drain it. Put the old gas in a car or truck or whatever if it's only a little old.  If it is really old, dispose of it.

Be hard line about FRESH fuel, and 10% is no problem.
